Vietnam and Cambodia itinerary – Part 1

In the past, Vietnam is usually known for the terrible and tragical war. But nowaday, package holiday to Vietnam is becoming popular. It is also known for being the potential travelling hotspot of the world. Tourism industry in this small country has been developed rapidly and is promised to attract a lot of tourists in the future. UNESCO also recognize five places in Vietnam as five World Heritage sites. They are : Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, My Son and Phong Nha.

Because of friendly local people and the astoundingly fascinate beauty of attractions, Vietnam is deserved to be called as “Destination for the New Millennium”.

Cambodia, which was out of the tourist map for a long time, has gradually developed its own tourism industry. Most of the best attractions in Cambodia are created by man. Thanks to the temples of Angkor Wat, the French Colonial remains and the haunting ‘Killing Fields’, Cambodia  is a must after a trip through Vietnam.

Here is the itinerary of a Vietnam – Cambodia tour package I took last week:

Day 1: Brussels – PARIS – HANOI

We arrived to Hanoi with a direct flight from Paris


Day 2: HANOI

Hanoi is the political capital of Vietnam, after Ho Chi Minh City, and is also the second largest city in the country. The city has a unique atmosphere because of its wide boulevards with tall trees and its colonial style. Hanoi is quite different than most other typical Asian cities. The numerous lakes is the perfect places to answer frequents questions during the transaction. . Vietnamese local people are really friendly, so don’t be shy when asks them anything about Vietnam tour.

First you will be taken to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and has the chance to listen to the story of this high-mind president of Vietnam. After that, you would visit  One Pillar Pagoda – an awesome pagoda which was built in a lotus pond and the Literature Temple of Confucius. Lunch is included during this tour.


The enchanting Halong bay has been known by a famous Indochina movie. In this Gulf, you can find more than 3,000 islands and karst formations pride of caves scattered in the sea. This unique landscape was listed as the world heritage in 1994. The name of the bay  is named after a giant dragon, the legend of the mountains into the sea has fallen: the numerous islands that lie off the coast forming the twisting braids on the neck and the back of the dragon.


On the third day of your Vietnam tour package, you would arrive to Halong. Hiring an traditional but modern board, you would be able to discover every corners of this fascinating bay. We would visit Thien Cung, Dau Go and Tuan Chau, Con Cho and so on. Along the way of the tour you can enjoy the local scenes on the water and on the banks of the islands. The pristine scene of Halong together with delicious and fresh meal definitely would make the heart of any traveller melt. And do not forget to spend time swimming at Titop or Hoacuong.

In the evening you will have to wait for a super refreshing seafood  and spend the night in your comfortable cabin. If traveling during the season of the ink fishing in good weather, you can see how the local fishermen at night catching squid.

In the morning you can enjoy a breakfast on the junk. The tour is further also through the islands Dau Nguoi, Con Rua, the Luon cave, Bai Tu Long Bay and the island of Con Coc. For the afternoon, you were still invited to a buffet on board. We played around till the end of the day.
